Life saving food bundleFood Bundle £6

When a person begins their TB treatment they are often too ill to work.  A good diet is essential on the road to recovery and these food bundles are a life line to the poorest of the poor who can't afford to buy even the most basic supplies.

"Without this support I would have died"                 - Grace, TB survivor Zambia

Grace lives in rural Zambia, when our volunteer, Clever, found her she was so week that she could not leave her home.  A widow she was struggling to survive.  Thanks to Target TB she was provided with a pack of nutritious food so that she could get the most from her treatment.

Delsded

Life saving testingLife-saving testing

This gift can help people access TB testing and treatment.  Children are more likely to have severe forms of TB including TB of the brain and of the body.  Diagnosing TB in children can be difficult.

"Delsded's mother is now confident that her daughter will be cured."

Delsded is 9 months old and lives in rural Zambia.  Her mother was worried for her as she was continually sick and had stopped growing.  Thanks to Target TB Delsded was given a free x-ray which revealed that she had TB and so she was immediately started on treatment.

Her mother was surprised believing that no one so young could contract TB.  This gift will ensure that children like Delsded always have access to the TB testing and treatment they need.

Street Theatre in India

Life saving educationLife saving education £21

This gift can fund a street drama in India, teaching 100's of people about the disease in a memorable and enagaging way.

Children watch excitedly as they are entertained by a puppet show provided by our project in Northern Inida.

But behind the fun there is a serious message and the show will deliver key information on the prevention, causes and symptoms of TB.

The project delivers nearly 250 health education camps a year reaching over 12,000 people with vital information on TB.

Staff and volunteers are anxious to do more as they see the tangible benefits of the camps, with greater numbers of people coming forward for diagnosis and treatment.

 Helen and volunteer Thompson

Life saving volunteers Life saving volunteers £32

This gift can enable a community volunteer to provide vital support to a TB patient through their 6 months of treatment.

“the volunteers support has helped to build my confidence that this health problem is not going to last forever and I will be OK in the future.”       - Helen Njele, TB patient Zambia

Immediately after beginning her TB treatment Helen (pictured above) felt awful, she complained to her TB volunteer Thompson “I am taking drugs, feeling worse, coughing more and feeling weaker. What’s the point?” Thompson encouraged her to stick with it and sure enough after a few weeks these side effects subsided, and she began to feel better.

Treating TB takes 6 months and can be a long and arduous process, Helen told us that Thompson has been of great support to her; always providing encouragement and when she was too weak to walk he would collect her weekly supply of drugs from the clinic.
